The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste, received on 10 February 2026 the representative of the OAS in Haiti, Cristobal Dupouy. The Organization of American States reiterated its commitment to support the Haitian authorities, particularly in strengthening security and supporting the electoral process, with already more than 65 tons of material delivered to the PNH.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cults informs that Chancellor Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste met with the representative of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Haiti, Ambassador Cristobal Dupouy.
At the heart of the discussions: the continued support of the OAS for the priorities of the Haitian government, in particular the strengthening of security and the support of the electoral process. Ambassador Dupouy renewed the organization's readiness to support the authorities in these two projects deemed essential for the institutional stability of the country.
According to the communiqué, OAS has already contributed to the capacity-building of the Haitian National Police (HNP), including the delivery of over 65 tons of equipment and equipment for field operations. The organization also supported the construction of police stations and dormitories for HNP officers.
The Haitian Chancellor, for his part, stressed the need for cooperation based on confidence, transparency and efficiency, oriented towards concrete results for the benefit of the population and taking into account the realities of the national context.
This meeting is in line with the latest OAS discussions on the Haitian crisis, where Member States had insisted on the urgent need to ensure security, to ensure institutional continuity, particularly on issues related to the transition and the post of Prime Minister, and to hold credible elections to restore constitutional order. The organization had then reaffirmed its commitment to support Haiti in a process of exiting the crisis centred on political stability and the restoration of democratic institutions.
