Security reinforcement: 10 tanks delivered to the HNP to intensify gang control

Tabarre, 7 September 2025.- The National Police of Haiti (PNH) received, on Saturday 6 September, at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, an important batch of equipment, including ten armoured vehicles and personal protective equipment. This delivery, arriving on board an ER-BAR cargo flight, marks the first phase of an extensive government procurement programme to strengthen the operational capabilities of the police institution.

This acquisition is part of the national strategy for the modernization of the security forces, in order to provide them with means adapted to the security realities of the country. The equipment is mainly intended for the specialized units of the HNP, often deployed in sensitive areas of armed groups.

According to the authorities, this is a major turning point in the fight against great banditry and reflects the State's willingness to support the HNP in practice. Further shipments are expected in the coming days, confirming the continuity of this process of institutional strengthening.

Under the direction of the new Director General of the PNH, there are dementing operations in the lower part of the city. They are beginning to yield results with the resumption of certain strategic axes, which have been under the control of armed groups in recent months.
