The Mayor of Arcahaie Wilner René and the Engineer Noé Exumé
Since 18 November 2025, the town of Bercy, located between Arcahaie and Cabaret, has faced repeated attacks attributed to the criminal group « Viv ansanm ». At the same time, an offensive of a rare gang violence « Gran Grif » ravaged the town of Pont-Sondé on the night of 29-30 November. These assaults caused several injuries, arson in many homes and extreme violence, illustrating a worrying escalation of insecurity in the departments of Artibonite and West.
Bercy under continuous attacks
In an interview given to Magik 9 on Tuesday 2 December, the mayor of Arcahaie, Wilner René, confirms that the group « Viv ansanm », already dominant in Cabaret, tries to extend its influence towards Bercy, considered the last bulwark before the City of Flag.
According to the newspaper, the attacks are regular but have so far been delayed thanks to police intervention and the support of the local population. He reported at least nine people injured by bullets, two of them recently, as well as burning houses and families forced to leave their homes in a hurry.
Pont-Sondé: a night of terror
In the department of Artibonite, Pont-Sondé was the target of an attack of unprecedented intensity attributed to the gang. « Gran Grif ». Speaking at the Magik 9 microphone, engineer Noé Exumé describes a dramatic situation in several neighbourhoods, including Bélanger, Poterie and Mont-ODVA, today largely devastated. He claims to have seen « several corpses » and reports cases of gang rape, which accentuates the extent of horror experienced by the population.
At St. Nicholas Hospital in St. Mark's, at least 15 injured were admitted as a result of the attack. The Haitian National Police (HNP) reported that it had deployed armoured and specialized units, while acknowledging that the intervention had been severely hampered by night conditions and violence from the clashes.
A region gradually encircled
From Cabaret to Pont-Sondé, armed gangs continue their territorial advance, gradually insulating strategic areas such as Arcahaie and Saint-Marc, now surrounded by territories controlled by various criminal coalitions.
Faced with this alarming situation, the people, traumatized and delivered to themselves, call for an urgent and firm response from the State, in order to avoid further human tragedies in the region.
