Joint programme to support the HNP: the Haitian Prime Minister welcomes the commitment of the international community

Port-au-Prince, 26 June 2025.- In a warm atmosphere, the Prime Minister, Mr. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, chaired the second session of the Steering Committee of the Joint Program in Support of the National Police of Haiti (PNH), on Thursday, June 26, at the Hotel Montana, in Pétion-Ville.

In order to strengthen the institutional, technical and material capacities of the HNP, the session brought together representatives of international and multilateral partners, including the United States, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Mexico, high-level officials from the Political Institution and experts from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

On this occasion, the President of the Supreme Council of the National Police (CSPN), Mr. Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, paid tribute to the international community's commitment to restoring order and peace throughout the country.

« The fight against insecurity is our top priority. We must equip the HNP with the human, material and institutional resources necessary for its republican mission. », he said.

In addition to the evaluation of ongoing projects, the modernization of the Commissariats, the provision of tactical equipment, the training of law enforcement officers, the Head of Government renewed his commitment to an urgent and lasting security crisis.

Taking this opportunity, he also recalled that these efforts are part of a broader road map:

1. Restoration of social security and peace in the country ' s ten geographical departments;
2. Implementation of the constitutional referendum to strengthen the legitimacy of our institutions;
3. Organisation of free, transparent and democratic elections for the renewal of political staff.

For their part, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Ms. María Isabel Salvador, and the UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. Xavier Michon, welcomed the progress made while calling for increased financial support to ensure safe access to areas controlled by armed gangs. As for the senior figures of the Police Institution, they stressed the importance of a rigorous and transparent steering, adapted to the realities of the field.
