United States, November 6, 2025.- An essential figure in American politics, Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to have presided over the House of Representatives, announced on Thursday that she would retire in January 2027 at the end of her term. The 85-year-old Democrat of San Francisco put an end to four decades of political commitment. A decision hailed by his allies and mocked by Donald Trump, his former rival.
In a video addressed to his constituents, Nancy Pelosi stated that she « really loved to bring their voices to Congress ». Elected since 1987, she made history by becoming the first woman Speaker of the House in 2007, a position she held from 2007 to 2011, and from 2019 to 2023.
