Cap-Haitien, February 4, 2026.- In Cap-Haitien, the Ministry of Public Health and Population began, Monday, February 3, 2026, the delivery of letters of appointment to 60 nurses selected at the national competition of 2025. This ceremony at the Northern Health Directorate ends several months of waiting for professionals who had no clear status or pay and paves the way for their effective integration into the public service.

The acts of appointment were delivered during an activity chaired by the Northern Health Department Director, Dr Hans Humbold A. Charles, in the presence of the Director of the DSF, Dr Cassandre Milord, and a member of the Cabinet, Dr Rodney Dupuy. According to the authorities, the quota initially set at 40 has been increased to 60 beneficiaries in order to meet the urgent needs of hospitals and health centres, particularly in the context of an increase in the number of internally displaced persons. The West, South, Central and North-West departments are expected to follow the same momentum, while other areas remain on hold for administrative reasons related to the delivery of cases.

Beyond the symbol, these appointments pave the way for the payment of agents and their integration into state registers. For nearly ten months, many of them have been working in total precariousness, providing essential services without social protection. The Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) presents this approach as a response to the human resources crisis affecting the health sector, marked by the massive departures of caregivers and the chronic overload of public structures.

This first step creates a precedent, but the challenge remains national. Hundreds of nurses from other departments still hope for the same recognition. The success of the process will depend on its rapid spread and transparent career management taking into account real qualifications. For the health system, the issue is clear: restoring the trust of caregivers so that no one continues to work in the shadow of uncertainty.
