Delmas, August 14, 2026.- The University of Saint Francis of Assisi of Haiti organized, this Friday, August 14, 2026, a scientific day dedicated to the book, research and reflection on several issues of Haitian society. Academic leaders, students, cultural personalities and guests took part in this initiative, which included scientific presentations, exchanges and interventions around national memory.
The event, organized by the Committee on Cultural and Scientific Activities (CACS), was attended by several USFAH officials, including the President of the University Council, Yma Descollines, and Rector Oriol Charles. The purpose of the meeting was to promote reading, university research and intellectual production within the student community.
Plusieurs travaux de recherche ont été présentés au cours de la journée. Marc Anderson Cinéus a abordé la « Crise institutionnelle et absence d’élections en Haïti : de 2015 à 2025, enjeux et perspectives pour l’État de droit « . Jeffca Polycare et Farah Louis ont présenté une étude sur la « Prévalence et impact de l’automédication sur la santé de la population de la commune de Delmas de 2020 à 2022 « . Wesner Letaillé, pour sa part, a consacré ses recherches à l’« Analyse des impacts environnementaux du Parc industriel Caracol sur le Parc national des Trois-Baies dans le département du Nord-Est allant de 2019 à 2023. Cas de la commune de Caracol « .
The cultural dimension was also an important part of this initiative. Dangelo Néard, Director General of the National Library of Haiti and known figure in the promotion of the book, spoke to remind students of the importance of reading and knowledge. The artist BIC Tizon Dife, recognized for his social, political and cultural texts, also participated in the day as an artistic guest.
The selection of the August 14 date, associated with the commemoration of the Bois-Caïman ceremony of 1791, gave a particular historical significance to the event. Marie Florence Jean Pierre and Yves Charles intervened around this episode considered a major moment in the history of the Haitian Revolution. Between research, literature, culture and national memory, the USFAH wanted to make this day a space for reflection and the transmission of knowledge.
