Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé announced on Friday 14 August 2026 a significant reduction in the cost of a dialysis session at the OFATMA Hospital in Les Cayes. The price goes from 15,000 to 5,000 gourdes.
This reduction comes after the arrival of new materials and inputs to strengthen the management of patients with renal impairment. The Government is also considering further reducing the cost of dialysis in the next fiscal year, Mr. Fils-Aimé said. In his view, this measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on patients and their families and to improve access to care in the South.
The Minister of Public Health and Population, Bertrand Sinal, also announced the forthcoming arrival of new equipment to improve the functioning of the service.
