Port-au-Prince, January 8, 2026.- From 8 January 2026, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) launched a call for applications to universities and faculties in the Department of West for the creation of University Startups Incubators (IUS). Through the AIESU project, the selected institutions will benefit from « turnkey » to stimulate innovation, student entrepreneurship and the transformation of ideas into viable businesses. Records are expected by January 23, 2026.
As part of the implementation of its strategic project Support for Entrepreneurial Invention and University Startups (AIESU), the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI) intends to strengthen the university entrepreneurial ecosystem in Haiti. The call for applications aims to select universities and faculties in the Western Department capable of hosting and operating a Startup University Incubator (IUS).
The objective is clear: to foster the emergence of innovative startups led by students, graduates and researchers, by facilitating the transformation of innovative ideas into competitive and sustainable entrepreneurial projects.
The award-winning institutions will benefit from the integrated support of the MCI, including the complete design and equipment of the incubator space, the training and certification of managers, and continuous technical support. They will also have access to the National Network of Incubators and mentoring and expertise for incubated startups.
An important aspect concerns access to financing. Projects which have reached maturity may be accompanied in the preparation of loan applications from partner institutions, including the Industrial Development Fund (IDF), with a view to a commercial launch and accelerated growth.
To be eligible, universities and faculties must be recognised by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP), have a dedicated space of at least 80 m2 and commit to setting up a steering team, including an institutional head and an operational director of the incubator.
