Port-au-Prince, August 8, 2025.- The National Police of Haiti (PNH) presented this Friday a series of serious accusations against the former Nippes Senator, Nenel Cassy. The charges include alleged homicide, alleged links with the foreign terrorist organization "Viv Ansanm", as well as acts of complicity in murders, kidnappings, armed robbery and criminal association. During a search, investigators also seized 252 copies of cheques, including a sample of more than 12.4 million gourdes.
Heavy and multiple accusations
At a conference held at the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), the Spokesperson of the PNH, the Divisionary Commissioner Michel-Ange Louis Jeune, detailed the charges against Nenel Cassy. In particular, he was accused of the alleged homicide of former consul Jacques Pierre Matilus, which occurred on 3 February 2021 in Delmas 40B.
The PNH also accused him of an alleged affiliation with the criminal coalition "Viv Ansanm" and of involvement in several serious crimes, including murders, kidnappings, armed robbery and criminal association.
Material evidence seized
According to Michel-Ange Louis Jeune, the DCPJ has sufficient evidence to transmit the case to the judicial authorities. As part of the investigation, several places frequented by the former parliamentarian were searched, including his residence in Pilgrim and the Hotel Djoune Bar & Grill in Delmas 40B.
The excavations revealed 252 copies of cheques, including documents issued on behalf of employees and public grant recipients. Of this total, five copies totalling 12,400,252 gourdes received particular attention from investigators.
