Port-au-Prince, 22 July 2025.- During her participation in the 18th edition of the section "Les Martes de la Nation", the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Ms Ketleen Florestal, also Minister of Social Affairs and Labour, revealed that more than one million people are currently internally displaced in Haiti. The Government intends to strengthen its social and economic support for these IDPs, while launching mentoring programmes for young people who have been expelled from abroad.

Speaker in the framework of the government initiative "Les Mardis de la Nation", the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Ketleen Florestal, who is also acting at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, drew up a worrying picture of the situation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Haiti.

According to her, the number of IDPs linked to insecurity currently exceeds one million, not to mention those expelled from the Dominican Republic and other countries. In the face of this crisis, the government claims to make every effort to provide immediate social and economic support to these vulnerable populations.

At the same time, specific programmes are put in place to provide guidance to repressed young Haitians, especially those with professional skills. These initiatives aim to promote their economic integration through the creation of small businesses or access to employment, in accordance with the vision of the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT) and Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

It should be stressed that Ms. Florestal reiterated the State's commitment to transforming these challenges into opportunities for Haitian youth, stressing the importance of valuing local skills to rebuild the economic and social fabric of the country.
