Pétion-Ville, March 26, 2026.- In a press note published this Thursday, March 26, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) released the long-awaited list of political parties accredited to participate in the upcoming electoral contests. Out of a total of 320 applications submitted, 282 political groups received the green light from the electoral institution. On the other hand, 38 parties found themselves on the saddle, not having obtained their validation. The CEP granted them a final stay until Thursday 2 April 2026 to regularize their situation.
The Haitian political landscape is brightening, not without a break. The Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), under the signature of its members, has reached a decisive stage in the ongoing electoral process by publishing the « Official List of Approved Political Parties ». This publication follows a rigorous analysis of the documents submitted by the various political groups, in accordance with the Electoral Decree and the timetable established.
CEP Verdict: The Valid Majority
The figures published by the CEP are unequivocal:
- Number of registered parties (who submitted a file): 320
- Number of registered parties (validated): 282
- Number of non-approved (reduced) parties: 38
The press note states that this decision was taken pursuant to article 144 of the Electoral Decree of 1 December 2025. The complete list of the 282 registered parties is now available on the CEP's official website (www.cephali.ht) and on its Facebook and X pages (formerly Twitter). The attached documents show long lists of parties ranging from« Democratic Action for Batir Haiti » (ADEBHA) « Zouti Ayisyen Pou Konstwi Ayiti » (ZAKA), passing through well-known structures like « Fanmi Lavalas » or « PHTK » (Haitien Tet Kale party, although the full name is not visible, the acronym is present).
Last Stay for the 38 « Placed »
For the 38 political parties whose dossier has not been validated, the race against time is launched. The CEP, in the interests of inclusion, grants them a grace period. They « until Thursday 02 April 2026 to complete their file » to the electoral institution. After this period, these parties may be permanently excluded from the next election.
This phase of « Administrative disputes » or regularisation is crucial. The grounds for non-validation are not detailed in the press note, but generally relate to missing exhibits, statutory compliance issues or funding issues.
Commitment to an Impartial Process
In conclusion of its note, the Provisional Electoral Council « Reaffirm its commitment to conduct an inclusive and impartial electoral process, with full independence and transparency ». This declaration aims to reassure political actors and the public about the integrity of the process, in a context often marked by distrust.
The publication of this list marks the real start of the pre-campaign, since the approved parties can now organize officially for the forthcoming elections, the exact dates of which remain to be specified in the overall calendar. The coming week will be decisive for the 38 suspended parties, whose immediate political future is being played out at the CEP office in Petion-ville.
