Port-au-Prince, 10 December 2025.- On Wednesday 10 December, Louis Gérald Gilles and Leslie Voltaire set up a steering committee at the Villa d'accueil to implement the project to establish the National Institute for Cancer Treatment. The infrastructure will be located in Cayes, in the South of Haiti, with the support of several ministers and actors in the health sector.
The installation ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Alfred Fils Métellus, the Minister of Public Health and Population, Sinal Bertrand, and the Minister for Women's Affairs and Women's Rights, Pédrica Saint-Jean. It marks a decisive step in the progress of this project, aimed at strengthening national capacities for cancer management.
Construction Manager « Health » In the Transitional Presidential Council, Louis Gérald Gilles stressed the humanitarian significance of this initiative. He thanked his fellow Councillor-Presidents, especially architect-urbanist Leslie Voltaire, for his constant support for the establishment of an institute of oncology in the country. CP Gilles also welcomed Finance Minister Alfred Fils Métellus, who integrated a budget line dedicated to the project for fiscal year 2025-2026.
Leslie Voltaire was pleased to see the Presidential Council embark on this process. Recalling the devastating impact of cancer on the population, he expressed gratitude to the members of the commission who agreed to bear this responsibility. He announced an acceleration of work and said he expected the support of national and international partners.
