Haiti-Honduras: the crucial duel could be disturbed by the weather

Tegucigalpa, October 13, 2025.- On the eve of the crucial match between Haiti and Honduras counting for the World Cup playoffs 2026, the Honduran authorities issued a 24-hour red alert in Francisco Morazán's department due to heavy rains. This preventive mechanism, accompanied by the suspension of the courses, casts a shadow on the holding of the meeting scheduled this Monday evening at the national stadium Chelato Ucles in Tegucigalpa.

The highly anticipated duel between the Grenadiers of Haiti and Honduran selection could be disrupted by extreme weather conditions. The Standing Committee on Contingencies (Copeco) of Honduras issued a red alert for the capital Tegucigalpa and its environs, due to heavy rain forecasts that could cause flooding and landslides.

Local authorities claim that this measure aims to reduce risks in vulnerable areas, while the soil is already saturated with water. In parallel, the Ministry of Education ordered the suspension of all courses, public and private, for 48 hours, in order to avoid dangerous travel.

Concacaf closely follows the situation, as continuous precipitation could affect the logistics of the game: lawn condition, public access and safety around the stadium. A scenario that recalls last week's meeting between Haiti and Nicaragua, interrupted for several minutes due to a power outage.

Despite the uncertainty, the Grenadiers remain focused on their goal: to wrest a victory essential to their globalist dream.
