On the occasion of the commemoration of the Battle of Vertières, the Haitian Football Federation (FHF) launched, this Tuesday, November 18, 2025, a message of hope, calling on the Grenadiers to transform this symbolic date into a new battle: that of qualifying for the World Cup 2026.
« On November 18, 2025, two centuries, two decades and two years after this historic feat, we are about to wage a new battle; this time to put our names on the list of great nations participating in the most prestigious world football competition », writes the FHF.
In a bold parallel between the fight of the ancestors at Vertières and the Grenadiers on the ground, the Federation evokes a continuity of bravery, honour and perseverance. « Same date, day after day, but another story; This time to give the smile back to a people who have been crying for too long! »
