Jacmel, July 17, 2025.- The official tests of New Secondary IV (NSIV) in the South-East Department were carried out in good conditions, according to the officials of the examination centres. Despite some reported irregularities, including a case of fraud on the first day, the balance sheet remains largely positive.

Ms. Marie-Géralde Lubin, head of the K-Douge centres (10 rooms) and K-Douge II (3 rooms), welcoming candidates from the permanent and non-existent NSIV ferry, expressed satisfaction with the exemplary behaviour of the participants. However, candidates reported deviations in the time allowed for certain tests, without disturbing the entire process.

At Hosanna College in Jacmel, 306 of the 312 registered candidates responded to the appeal. No major incidents were identified, according to the Centre's official, Mr. Cénélien Achton.

Similar satisfaction at the Jacob Martin Henriquez Centre, led by Jean Rossiny Lafond. Of the 196 candidates expected, eight special cases were added from day one. If Mr. Lafond considers the tests affordable, he points to the prolonged absence of several teachers between January and May, particularly at JMH High School, which he believes could impact the results. He urges strikers to exercise responsibility to prevent such situations from happening again.

At several exam centres in Jacmel, candidates said they found the exams generally affordable, although some disciplines had a higher level of difficulty than expected.

A major event occurred on the first day: an individual, acting on behalf of a student for 15,000 gourdes – in complicity with a school principal – was caught in flagrant fraud. He was immediately arrested and handed over to the judicial authorities.

It should be noted that at a press briefing on Monday, July 14, the Departmental Director of South East Education, Mr. Wilfrid Lauture, indicated that more than 5,000 candidates were distributed in the department's various examination centres for this 2025 session.
