Football: Rafa Mir sentenced to 8 and a half years in prison for sexual assault

 

On Monday 15 June 2026, the Valencia Court of Appeal sentenced Rafa Mir to eight and a half years in prison for sexual assault and violence committed in September 2024, while working in Valencia. Spanish attacker received seven years in prison for sexual assault and an additional 18 months for assault.

The 28-year-old will not be able to approach the victim within 500 metres for 10 years and will have to pay him 64,000 euros in damages. The decision remains subject to appeal.

In the same case, footballer Pablo Jara was sentenced to two years and six months in prison for sexual assault and assault on the moral integrity of a second victim. It will also have to compensate the victim and comply with a five-year approach ban.
