The third and final day of the group phase begins on Wednesday 24 June and ends on 27 June. True to FIFA's rules, meetings are scheduled in simultaneous slots in order to preserve sport equity.

This prevents teams involved in the qualifying race from knowing the results of their direct competitors before entering the field. Each hour consists of two simultaneous games.

Created as a result of World Controversies 1982, notably the « shame game » between West Germany and Austria, this rule aims to protect the integrity of the competition after the elimination of Algeria. Since then, FIFA has maintained this system to ensure suspense, transparency and equal opportunities until the last whistle in the group phase.
