United States: Congress adopts resolution calling for withdrawal of US forces from Iran

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026, the US Congress adopted a resolution calling on President Donald Trump to stop US military operations against Iran and withdraw the forces involved in the conflict, unless there is an imminent threat to the United States.

This vote is all the more notable given that the Republicans are the majority in Congress, several of which have joined the Democrats to support the measure. According to American authorities, hostilities between Washington and Tehran began on 28 February 2026.

Although this resolution is essentially symbolic in scope and does not directly compel the White House, it constitutes a political setback for Donald Trump on the Iranian issue.
