Bolivia, 22 October 2025.- On a trip to La Paz for the 100th anniversary of the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF), the President of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino said, on Monday 20 October, that Bolivia will host « a World Cup, sure. », without specifying whether it would be a senior tournament or another category. A bold promise from FIFA President, who wants to start discussions with President-elect Rodrigo Paz.
Despite its modest ranking in South American qualifications, Bolivia remains formidable at home thanks to its stadiums perched at more than 3,700 meters above sea level, such as the Hernando Siles in La Paz or the El Alto stadium, at more than 4,000 meters.
Long controversial, altitude is no longer an obstacle: after the ban on international matches above 2,500 metres in 2007, FIFA had cancelled this decision as early as 2008. Bolivia could thus join the narrow circle of South American countries already hosting a World Championship, such as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Uruguay.
