On Monday 22 June, the Ministry of the Environment presented its assessment for the month of May 2026, marked by several actions in favour of sanitation, waste management and the protection of natural resources. Key achievements include the launch of the ICAP and Phase 8 of the GEF Micronances Programme to support local environmental initiatives.
Under the Konbit Haiti Zero Déchet program, 55 wild dumps were disposed of in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince, while curing work was carried out in Gonaïves to reduce the risk of flooding. The Ministry also trained 60 displaced young people in recycling and green entrepreneurship.
At the institutional level, a technical committee was established to restructure the National Agency for Protected Areas (ANAP) and strengthen the country's environmental governance. These initiatives are part of the Government's commitment to promoting sustainable development and climate resilience.
