Port-au-Prince, 24 July 2025.- In the face of the rise of armed gangs in Haiti, Dr Emmanuel Ménard, leader of the Reformist Force Party, during an intervention on Wednesday, July 23, at Radio Métropole, calls for an appropriate security response. He pleaded for the intervention of specialized units instead of mere police officers, in order to put an end to the terror imposed on citizens.
The climate of widespread insecurity continues to worry Haitian politicians. Among them, Dr. Emmanuel Ménard, who climbs to the niche to demand a more muscular and targeted strategy against armed gangs that are bloody several parts of the country.
In a public statement on 23 July, the leader of the Reform Party, Force Louverturienne, argued that the use of simple police patrols is no longer sufficient to deal with the systematic violence of criminal groups. According to him, only the establishment of elite corps, trained and equipped for special operations, can allow the State to regain control of the occupied areas.
« We need units capable of responding effectively to these organized attacks. The very survival of the civilian population, abandoned at the mercy of gangs, is at stake. »insisted Mr. Ménard.
He also urges the law enforcement agencies to show courage and professionalism in the face of the daily murderous assaults. For Dr. Ménard, the time has come for a safe response to the challenges.
