Data for development: a strategic workshop for the 75th anniversary of IHSI

Port-au-Prince, September 5, 2025.-L的Institut Haïtien de Statistique et d'Informatique (IHSI) will organize on Wednesday and Thursday, September 17 and 18, at the Karibe Hotel, a workshop on data governance. This event, which will mark the institution's 75th anniversary, will bring together public and private partners on the theme: « Data to understand, information systems to act ».

Founded in 1950 and under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), IHSI plays a central role in the production, management and dissemination of statistical data in Haiti. For its 75 years of existence, the institution will aim to strengthen the statistical and digital culture through a space for dialogue and reflection. This workshop, supported by the MEF, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Group Growth, will be part of this dynamic.

For two days, public decision makers, experts, researchers and private sector representatives will reflect on the strategic place of data in governance and development. The discussions will include the modernization of information systems, the reliability of statistics, and the importance of access to data for informed decision-making.

This dialogue and reflection workshop will also provide an opportunity to share experiences, explore technological solutions and identify partnerships that can strengthen national capacity for data generation and use. By highlighting data governance, IHSI will want to position Haiti in a regional and global dynamic where information will be an essential lever for transformation and sustainable development.

With the celebration of its 75th anniversary and the organization of this workshop, IHSI will reaffirm its role as a pillar in the national statistical system. The event will mark an important step to promote a true data culture in Haiti, serving transparency, governance and economic and social progress.
