Port-au-Prince, 13 January 2026.- The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) hosted, Monday, January 12, a strategic meeting to organize Haiti's participation in the FIFA World Cup 2026. Chaired by Minister Niola Lynn S.D. Octavius, the meeting brought together senior officials of the public administration, representatives of state institutions and major players in national sport, affirming the State's willingness to incorporate this approach into a national and inclusive dynamic.
Discussions focused on the establishment of a national commission to coordinate Grenadiers' participation in order to define a clear governance framework and a structured action plan. The focus was on the enhancement of cultural diplomacy, the mobilization of the diaspora and the promotion of the image of Haiti internationally through this sporting event.
At the same time, participants discussed initiatives to strengthen social cohesion throughout the country, including the organization of sports and cultural activities, popular gatherings around games, and other major events. The issue of ticketing, distribution of meetings and availability of official equipment was also discussed with representatives of the Haitian Football Federation.
At the end of the meeting, stakeholders agreed to streamline approaches, adopt a sectoral and operational approach, and submit detailed action plans quickly. These contributions will be used to develop a single reference document, which will constitute the national roadmap for Haiti's participation in the 2026 World Cup, reflecting the aspirations of the Haitian people and projecting on the international scene an image of dignity, unity and excellence.
