Port-au-Prince, March 11, 2026.- The Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Sandra Paulemon, met with the resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Haiti, Xavier Michon, on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 in Port-au-Prince. Discussions focused on strengthening the Ministry's institutional capacity and on a national training project for digital trades, developed in partnership with Haitian and Canadian universities.
During the meeting, the two officials examined several avenues for collaboration aimed at modernizing the management systems of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation (MPCE). Among the initiatives mentioned are a draft national programme of intensive, inclusive and certifying training in key areas of digital technology such as web development, artificial intelligence, office automation and digital design.
This project is led by the MPCE in partnership with the University of Technology of Haiti (UNITECH) and the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi (UQAC). It aims to strengthen digital skills in Haiti and to promote young people's access to new professional opportunities in an expanding sector.
UNDP Resident Representative Xavier Michon welcomed Minister Sandra Paulemon's commitment to drive a new momentum within the Ministry, while reaffirming UNDP's commitment to continue close collaboration with the Haitian authorities in implementing the country's development priorities. For her part, the Minister reiterated the will of the government led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé to strengthen more structured and effective cooperation with international partners.
