Port-au-Prince, January 29, 2026.- On the occasion of the International Day of Education, the Higher Institute of Training, Research and Innovation of Quisqueya University (InnovEd-UniQ) and the Western Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIO) held a round table on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at the UniQ campus.
This meeting brought together academic actors, representatives of the private sector, students and professionals around the theme « Skills for the future ». The objective was to reflect on the adaptation of training to the realities of the labour market and the challenges of the reconstruction of Haiti.
The exchanges highlighted the persistent gap between the training offered by higher education institutions and the skills sought in the labour market. Universities and business leaders stressed the need to adapt curricula, strengthen practical training and further integrate cross-cutting skills, particularly in the areas of innovation, digital and entrepreneurship, in order to improve the employability of young graduates.
The meeting also stressed the importance of sustainable partnerships between universities and the private sector. Internships, alternance programmes, co-construction of training and involvement of enterprises in educational guidance were identified as concrete levers to facilitate the vocational integration of students and support economic recovery.
By bringing together academic actors, representatives of the business sector and students, this initiative of InnovEd-UniQ and the CCIO has produced a consensus: the strengthening of human capital is an essential pillar of the reconstruction of Haiti, provided that the exchanges translate into concrete and lasting actions.
