Grand-Anse, December 7, 2025.- On Friday, 5 December, the Development and Democracy Support Group (GRADE) organized the closing ceremony of the project entitled « Humanitarian and emergency leadership training »an initiative aimed at strengthening local capacities in response to growing humanitarian challenges.

This activity, the result of a collaboration between GRADE, the Institute of Leadership and Humanitarian Action (ILEAH), the Office of Civil Protection and the Haitian Red Cross, brings together key actors in community life: local authorities, members of the law enforcement forces, grass-roots organizations, volunteers, and representatives of several neighbourhoods in the department.

Winner of the 2024 Innovation Fund for the Engagement of Former Students (AEIF), a program of the U.S. Department of State supporting initiatives with high social impact, this project was designed to train a new generation of leaders capable of responding to humanitarian emergencies, improving local coordination and fostering community resilience.

Through training sessions focused on crisis management, emergency communication and community mobilization, participants were able to develop concrete skills to better protect and serve their communities.

The closing of this programme marks a significant step forward in disaster preparedness efforts in Haiti. It also demonstrates the commitment of GRADE and its partners to contribute actively to the stability, security and sustainable development of the country's most vulnerable territories.
