Port-au-Prince, le 2 septembre 2025.- Dès le 1er octobre prochain, les citoyens haïtiens pourront voyager, travailler et s’établir sans visa dans quatre pays de la Caraïbe. Cette décision, prise lors du dernier sommet des chefs de gouvernement de la CARICOM en Jamaïque, à Kingston, s’inscrit dans le cadre d’un projet pilote baptisé « libre circulation totale « , visant à faciliter la mobilité régionale.
Haiti, a CARICOM member since 2002 but long marginalized in the integration processes, sees a significant advance in its regional participation. This measure removes the visa and work permit requirements for Haitians in four countries: Barbados, Belize, Dominica and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Limited access to certain essential services is also provided, depending on local laws.
To enjoy this freedom of movement, travellers will have to present a valid Haitian passport, respect the laws of the host country and not represent a threat to public security.
Other CARICOM member States could follow suit by the end of the year. This initiative marks a decisive turning point for Haitians, paving the way for a more integrated and accessible Caribbean.
