Budget 2027: OAS takes a key step ahead of Panama's General Assembly

Washington, 17 June 2026.- On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the Organization of American States (OAS) transmitted its 2027 budget proposal to the General Assembly, which will meet next week in Panama to consider and approve it, according to a statement by Secretary-General Albert R. Ramdin.

Presented before the due date, the project has been the subject of constructive discussions among the Member States, thereby speeding up the budgetary process and avoiding the holding of an extraordinary General Assembly, thereby reducing administrative costs.

The OAS welcomed the contribution of the Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Affairs, the mission of Brazil to the OAS and the financial teams of the General Secretariat. The organisation reaffirms its commitment to responsible financial management, transparency and long-term fiscal sustainability.

According to Albert R. Ramdin, this progress demonstrates the ability of the OAS to remain fully operational and effectively prepare for the decisions to be adopted at the Panama General Assembly.
