Port-au-Prince, June 17, 2026.- On Wednesday, June 17, the Ministry of Defence announced the closure of a first aid training programme for 250 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd的H). Launched on 20 May, this initiative was carried out with the support of Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium and Holland. It aims to strengthen the operational capabilities of soldiers in response to medical emergencies, humanitarian crises and disaster situations.
The Ministry of Defence officially closed, this Wednesday, a specialized first aid training for 250 members of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAd的H). This programme, implemented by the Fad-H Medical Service in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium and Médecins Sans Frontières Hollande, took place from 20 May to 17 June 2026.
The training covered several key areas, including the prevention and management of sexual violence, psychological first aid and basic clinical first aid techniques. Specialists from both sections of Médecins Sans Frontières provided the sessions, sharing their expertise and field experiences with the military beneficiaries.
According to the authorities, this initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the institutional and operational capacities of the Fad的H. It is the first phase of a broader programme, which should be gradually extended to better prepare the armed forces to respond effectively to emergencies, accidents, natural disasters or humanitarian crises.
The Ministry of Defence welcomed the collaboration of humanitarian partners and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing training of military personnel, which was seen as a key lever for improving the operational response of the armed forces.
