Kinshasa, 11 December 2025.- In an interview given to France 24 since Kinshasa, Congolese opponent Martin Fayulu denounces the agreement reached on 4 December in Washington between Paul Kagamé and Félix Tshisekedi, under the aegis of Donald Trump. He described the pact as a "piège" held by the Rwandan President and accused the two heads of State of endangering Congolese sovereignty. Fayulu calls for an inclusive national dialogue, including former President Joseph Kabila.
Congolese opponent Martin Fayulu strongly criticized the agreement signed in Washington between Rwandan Presidents Paul Kagamé and Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi. In an exclusive interview with France 24, he states that this compromise, presented as a diplomatic approach to alleviating regional tensions, would in reality be "a trap" carefully elaborated by Kigali.
According to Fayulu, the document signed under the mediation of US President Donald Trump does not meet Congo's interests. He believes that Paul Kagamé seeks, through this, to strengthen his influence in the region and further weaken Kinshasa's position in managing the conflict in the East. The opponent also blames Félix Tshisekedi for letting himself be drawn into an agreement which he considers unbalanced.
The former presidential candidate goes further by accusing the two leaders of being "guilty" of decisions that could jeopardize national sovereignty. For him, no lasting solution can be imposed from the outside without consulting the Congolese themselves.
Finally, Martin Fayulu advocates an inclusive national dialogue. It calls for bringing together all the political and social forces of the country, including former President Joseph Kabila, in order to define a consensual strategy to address the security and political challenges that undermine the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
