On Friday 17 April 2026, the Haitian authorities marked 70 years of diplomatic relations with Taiwan during an official ceremony. On occasion, the Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé spoke of the main areas of cooperation developed since 1956. Trade between the two countries concerned several areas, including agriculture, infrastructure, health and training. Interventions also took place during crises, including the 2010 earthquake and the VOCID-19 pandemic.
Beyond the stocktaking, the discussions highlighted expectations for enhanced cooperation, including on security and stability issues, as the country faces persistent institutional and socio-economic challenges.
