Washington reaffirms its support for the CPT and the Government by denouncing attempts at corruption

Washington, August 1, 2025.- The United States claims to be aware of corruption manoeuvres seeking to hinder the stabilization process in Haiti. In a firm statement, the State Department congratulates the members of the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT) who resisted these pressures, while renewing their support for the collaboration between the CPT and the Prime Minister, Mon Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. This message comes at a time when certain socio-political sectors are conducting discreet talks to try to circumvent or replace the current Transitional Presidential Council.

U.S. authorities are getting into the niche. In a statement released this week, the United States Department of State confirmed that it was aware of attempts to corrupt the political transition process in Haiti.

Without identifying the authors of these manoeuvres, the U.S. government clearly expresses its support for the CPT members who refused to give in to them. « We congratulate these members of the CPT for rejecting the corruption manoeuvres and renew our support for their collaboration with the Prime Minister to restore stability in Haiti, in our common interests », we read in the statement.

Even sharper, Washington warns those working to undermine this process: « We will hold responsible anyone who tries to compromise this collaboration ».

This warning comes at a time when several socio-political groups sometimes allied with circumstances, either members of past governments, seek to impose an alternative to the CPT. Discussions would have been initiated behind the scenes to form a new governing body or to push for a reshaping of the current structure, deemed ineffective by its critics.

For the United States, stability remains a priority. The message is unequivocal: the transition must continue within the current framework, despite internal tensions. Any attempt at political or financial derailment will be closely monitored.
