Pétion-Ville, December 6, 2025.- As part of the 16 days of activism to eliminate violence against women and girls, the Office for the Protection of the Citizen (OPC) organized, on Friday, 5 December 2025, at Hotel Montana, a round table bringing together various State, community and international actors. Objective: to discuss the theme « How can we guarantee access to justice for women and girls who are victims of sexual violence? ».
The event brought together key figures such as the Minister for Women and Women's Rights, Pedrica Saint Jean, the Protector of the Citizen Jean Wilner Morin, the Councillor of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ), Magistrate Wando St Villier, and the head of the UNDP Governance Unit, Ms. Djénanne Féliz-Désir, alongside young people, students and human rights defenders.
In her speech, Minister Saint John welcomed the initiative of the OPC and recalled that, in a context of widespread insecurity, women and girls remain particularly vulnerable to serious violence. She stressed the urgency of reforming judicial institutions to better accommodate, protect and support survivors.
The Minister also highlighted the importance of the immediate application of the free medical certificate for victims, provided for in the agreement between MCFDF, MSPP and MJSP. She called for improved inter-institutional coordination, an extension of legal and psychosocial services, and a zero tolerance policy against all forms of gender-based violence.
In reaffirming the State's willingness to work in synergy with its partners and civil society, Pedrica Saint Jean stressed that only collective action will ensure that every woman and girl has access to fair, humane and secure justice.
