The Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR), through the Resilient Agriculture Project for Food Security (PARSA), financed by the World Bank, implements work to protect and strengthen hydro-agricultural infrastructure in the Southern Department, announced the PARSA on Sunday 14 June 2026. These interventions are carried out with the support of the GEO Society/GECAMH consortium, as part of improved water resources management and a reduction in the vulnerability of the structures to climatic hazards.
In the commune of Torbeck, department of the South of Haiti, at the level of the Ravine Sèche, gabionage works are under way for a total volume of 7,260 m3, or about 605 linear meters. The main objectives of these developments are to reduce erosion, stabilize banks and protect agricultural land, while contributing to the security of local infrastructure, including rural roads used to transport agricultural production.
These interventions are part of a dynamic of strengthening rural infrastructure and protecting agricultural areas exposed to natural hazards. They help improve the sustainability of existing developments and reduce the impacts of climate events on agricultural activities in the region.
