On the occasion of World Statistics Day, the Society for Innovation and Promotion of Development through Education and Culture (SIPDEC) is organizing, from 17 to 19 October 2025, the first Annual Conference on Data Valorization in Haiti (CAVDHA). Placed under the theme « Modernisation of Haitian civil status: a lever for demographic planning and socio-economic development », this meeting aims to institutionalize reflections on scientific research and the strategic use of data for better governance.
Under the leadership of SIPDEC, the Annual Conference on the Valorization of Data in Haiti (CAVDHA) announces as an unprecedented space for sharing, learning and collaboration between researchers, public decision-makers, state institutions and civil society actors, announces Marcus Joseph in an interview given to Radio Magik 9 on Wednesday.
This first edition, which will be held online from 17 to 19 October 2025, is part of an approach to modernising public governance and promoting scientific research.
The CAVDHA 2025 will bring together several personalities from the academic and institutional world, including Wilfrid Bertrand, Director General of the National Archives of Haiti, Reynold Guerrier, Director General of the National Office of Identification (ONI), Jacques H. Rousseau, statistician-demographer, and Marc Arnold Rosemond, statistician. They will share their analyses and recommendations around the central theme: "Modernizing the civil state as a tool for demographic planning and driving socio-economic development. "
According to Marcus Joseph, this conference project stems from its focus on "Sectoral Dynamization", which aims to institutionalize reflections on data valuation and to generate concrete actions for scientific research in Haiti. The organisation wishes to mobilize all stakeholders, the private sector, public institutions, universities, civil society organisations and donors, on issues related to data management and exploitation.
It recalls that, beyond the often mentioned lack of financial resources, the real challenge lies in the proactivity and mobilisation of the actors concerned to finance and value scientific research, which is an essential pillar of sustainable development.
Conference participants will receive a certificate of participation, have access to bonuses, and have an exceptional professional networking opportunity.
Registrations are already open on the official website: https://cavdha.com/application-for-participation/.
