In the afternoon of Thursday, July 24, 2025, the security landscape of Haiti has seen a major turning point in the strengthening of the professional capacities of the military of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAD-H). At Toussaint Louverture International Airport, 150 military personnel, including 15 women, left the country for Mexico for a three-month strategic training.
To mark the departure of these valiant heroes and heroines, who will perfect themselves to better defend national sovereignty, a solemn ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the Presidential Council of Transition (CPT), Fritz Alphonse Jean, the Councillor-President Leslie Voltaire, the Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, the Minister of Defence, Jean-Michel Moïse, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Mexican Embassy in Haiti, José de Jesús Cisneros Chávez, as well as senior civilian and military officials.
With this departure, the Government intends to reaffirm its firm commitment to invest in the training of these soldiers who have engaged on the ground, with a view to restoring peace and public order and State authority over the country's ten geographical departments.
Under a cooperation programme between Haiti and Mexico, 700 soldiers will be trained in Mexico.
In the same vein, the Government also expressed its gratitude to the Mexican authorities, represented at this ceremony by Mr. Carlos Imanol Reyes, emissary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for their unwavering commitment alongside Haiti, especially in this difficult period.
It should be stressed that strengthening the capacity of the national security forces is one of the priorities of the Transitional Presidential Council and the Government, in order to create an environment conducive to the holding of the constitutional referendum and the organization of general elections, in accordance with the Agreement of 3 April 2025, defining the transition road map.
