On this occasion, the departmental delegate of Artibonite, Me Ivens Nérélus, called for a collective break to rebuild an inclusive Haitian school, adapted to territorial realities and carrying sustainable development.

Invited by the Departmental Directorate of Education of Artibonite, Mr. Ivens Nérélus took part, on 12 December 2025, in Gonaïves, in the departmental workshop preparatory to the National Conference on the Rebuilding of the Educational System. Welcoming the initiative, he described it as a decisive step in the process of rebuilding the Haitian school, while stressing the importance of a sincere and inclusive dialogue between educational authorities, local actors and civil society.

In his speech, the departmental delegate emphasized the strategic role of Artibonite in national development. In his view, the reform of the education system could not be effective without taking into account the social, economic and cultural realities of the department, particularly those of often marginalized rural areas. He called for education that was better adapted to the concrete needs of local communities.

Ivens Nérélus also highlighted the shared responsibility of teachers, parents and communities for the success of any educational reform. It believes that school must become a real lever of social mobility, capable of training responsible, competent and committed citizens in the development of their environment.

Recognizing the structural weaknesses of the Haitian education system, the departmental delegate urged participants to transform the findings into concrete actions. It reaffirmed its commitment to forward the recommendations of the workshop to national forums, convinced that education remains the fundamental foundation of any sustainable social transformation.
