The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, Raina Forbin, hosted a high-level delegation on Sunday, August 16, 2026, led by the Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert R. Ramdin, and CARICOM Secretary General Carla Barnett. The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Mario Andrésol and President of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Jacques Desrosiers.
This visit takes place in a context marked by major challenges for Haiti, particularly in terms of security, institutional and electoral issues. The joint presence of officials from OAS, CARICOM and several partner institutions reflects the attention paid to developments in the Haitian situation and to efforts to strengthen international support.
The delegation will stay in Haiti from 16 to 19 August 2026. It includes representatives of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Caribbean Development Bank (CAF), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Inter-American Defence Junt (JID), the Inter-American Institute for Agricultural Cooperation (IICA) and the United Nations. Exchanges should, inter alia, assess the country's needs and strengthen coordination between Haiti and its regional and international partners.
