Diplomatic appointments, municipal changes and national tributes: the major decisions of the Council of Ministers

Port-au-Prince, August 20, 2025.- The Council of Ministers held this Wednesday was marked by a series of strategic appointments in Haitian diplomacy, changes at the head of several municipalities, as well as social and symbolic measures, including the granting of compensation to former employees of the National Centre for Equipment (CNE) and the national funeral in memory of Bishop Joseph Willy Romélus.

At this Council of Ministers, several appointments were made, including: Mozart Clérison was appointed State Secretary for Literacy. In the diplomatic field, several personalities are entering or returning to the international scene. Marie Carol Pierre Paul Jacob became extraordinary ambassador and plenipotentiary of Haiti in Cuba, while Roudy Stanley Penn made his return to Taiwan. Pierre-Richard Cajuste was appointed to Qatar and Anaïse Manuel will now represent Haiti with the United Kingdom. In Miami, Yverick Délerme Cyril is appointed Consul General.

At the national level, significant changes have been announced at the head of the municipalities of Cap-Haitien, Ouanaminthe, Jérémie and Arcahaie. The Government has also adopted measures to pay compensation to former CNE employees.

Finally, the Council decided to hold a national funeral in honour of Bishop Joseph Willy Romélus, the emeritus bishop of Jeremiah, thus marking the State's recognition of its spiritual and social commitment.
