Port-au-Prince, December 14, 2025. – The Haitian National Police (HNP) has been alerted to plans to attack internally displaced persons camps in Port-au-Prince. According to intelligence reports, criminal groups are considering the use of explosives and Molotov cocktails, particularly in the Bois-Verna area. In response to this perceived serious threat, a strengthened security mechanism has been deployed to protect the populations concerned.
On Sunday, 14 December, the Police Communications Directorate (DICOP) reported that the PNH had received reports of preparations for imminent attacks on several camps of internally displaced persons. These planned actions, attributed to criminal groups, would aim to spread panic among the population and undermine the image of law enforcement.
In response, the police institution claims to have immediately mobilized its units. Enhanced security measures, including increased vigilance and a visible police presence, have been introduced around camps considered sensitive, particularly in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince.
The HNP stresses that these provisions are strictly preventive and are part of its mission to protect civilians, including internally displaced persons living in conditions of high vulnerability.
It reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the safety of persons and property, while continuing its operations against armed gangs during this holiday season. The institution calls on the public to be vigilant and to cooperate with the authorities to help maintain order and security.
