Friday, August 29, 2025.- The 3rd edition of the Scientific Day of the École Normale Supérieure (ENS/UEH) was held around the theme: « Nutritional Issues: Understanding Today to Better Feed Tomorrow ». Jude Davidson Milord, Head of Public Affairs for this edition, called for a better food education in Haiti, recalling that the way we eat determines our state of health.
Through this activity, students wanted to draw public attention to the importance of a balanced diet in a country facing serious nutritional challenges. Conferences, debates and presentations highlighted the effects of malnutrition and poor eating habits.
When asked about the importance of this day, one participant recalled the urgency of acting: « Moun yo p ap byen manje nan peyi a, nou bezwen edike yo pu yo konnen kisa y ap manje epi ki fason y ap manje ». She also argued for the teaching of nutrition education in schools and the promotion of local consumption.
By focusing on the importance of a balanced diet, ENS graduates stress that nutrition is directly linked to public health, the economy and even the future of the country. A better understanding of the nutritional value of food can contribute not only to reducing non-communicable diseases, but also to enhancing national productivity.
Through this Scientific Day, ENS students recall that food is a pillar of sustainable development. Their message: « Understanding today to feed better tomorrow », resonates as a call for action for decision makers, families and institutions to build a more conscious, resilient and healthier Haitian society.
