Paris, November 8, 2025.- The director of the Louvre Museum, Laurence des Cars, reacted on Friday, November 7, on France Info to the Court of Auditors' severe report, which highlights delays in security and renovation. It considers this report « too severe », while recognizing the scale of the challenges as soon as he takes office.
In particular, the report denounces underinvestment in the safety of works, the outdated infrastructure and the priority given to media projects at the expense of structural emergencies. Laurence des Cars is sure to have launched in its first months a plan to secure the museum.
According to the magazine Valeurs Actuelles, she maintains her commitment despite the criticisms, refusing to leave her post after the robbery on 19 October. « The Louvre needs to be thoroughly modernised. I will continue to carry this transformation », she said.
Let us recall that on October 19, 2025, criminals robbed the Louvre Museum, carrying jewels of the French Crown worth an estimated 88 million euros. They used a lift truck to access the Apollo gallery, fractured secure windows, and then fled by scooter. The investigation is ongoing and several suspects have been arrested.
