Haiti Re-elected to the UNESCO Executive Council

 

Samarcande, November 8, 2025. – Haiti has just been re-elected to the Executive Council of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the period 2025-2029, following the elections held in Samarkand, the city of Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. This re-election, announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC), is a major diplomatic success, confirming the role of Haiti through international forums.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs (MAEC) formalized the news in a press release dated 7 November 2025. The re-election took place at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on Friday, 7 November 2025.

The Executive Council is defined as a key governance body of UNESCO. Its main mission is to ensure the rational management of the Organization's resources and to ensure the achievement of its objectives in the fundamental areas of education, science, culture and communication.

This new Haitian presence in the UNESCO governing body is a strong sign and, according to the press release, «as part of the Transitional Government's vision to promote national expertise in international institutions».
