Pétion-Ville, 19 June 2025.- At the School of Brothers of Christian Instruction (FIC) in Petion City, the 31st edition of Books in Madness brilliantly revived more than a thousand exciting books and authors. This Thursday, June 19, Le Nouvelliste, in partnership with La Unibank, celebrated the largest book fair in Haiti.
The organizers of this event announced that 142 reference books have been proposed and that 94 writers have signed their books for an audience eager for reading. A unique opportunity to discover various works, meet their authors and support literary creation.

This edition pays tribute to two major figures in the literary scene: Christophe Philippe Charles, who celebrates 55 years of career with 154 books published, and Frankétienne, who died in February 2025, hailed posthumously as master of total art.
Frantz Duval, editor-in-chief of Le Nouvelliste newspaper, said: « Christophe Philippe Charles and Frankétienne are pillars that embody continuity, demand and creativity in Haitian letters. »
For its 31st edition, Books in Madness has offered nearly 800 titles available on site, with the possibility to exchange with authors and obtain signings. In parallel, a thousand 187 books are accessible online, from June 16 to 22, with withdrawal at several distribution points in Port-au-Prince, in the province and abroad. Nine publishing houses took part in the event, including Communication Plus, responsible for logistics, said Frantz Duval.

In addition, Franz Duval reported that the fair has promoted access to reading through reduced rates of up to 40%, accessible spaces, and an increasing supply of Creole books and young authors. Books in madness thus imposes itself as a pillar of the creation, dissemination and cultural democratization in Haiti.
