On an official visit to Île-à-Vache, department of the South, the Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr. Bertrand Sinal conducted, on Monday 22 December 2025, an assessment and consultation mission to diagnose the state of health infrastructures and announce concrete actions in January 2026.
During this tour, several structures were visited, including the health centres of Mrs Bertrand and Kay Kòk. The Minister assessed the operating conditions, the condition of the equipment, the availability of medical personnel and the difficulties encountered by users and caregivers.
Exchanges with local officials and professionals revealed major structural challenges affecting the quality and continuity of care. In response to these findings, the MSPP plans for January 2026 to build operational capacity, improve medical supply and improve patient care.
The visit is part of the Government's commitment to reducing health inequalities, particularly in island and remote areas. It marks a milestone in the process of strengthening the local health system, pending the implementation of the commitments announced.
