Pétion-Ville, November 7, 2025.- The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MCI), in partnership with the Regional Chambers of Commerce, the United Nations system and several private sector actors, organized a new session of the Private Sector Engagement Forum for the Reduction of Community Violence at the Karibe Convention Center on Thursday, 6 November 2025. This meeting is part of the implementation of the National DDR-RVC Action Plan and aims to promote sustainable economic solutions to break the cycles of marginalization and insecurity.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry continues its strategy of involving the private sector in peacebuilding in Haiti. The second session of the Engagement Forum, held in Pétion-Ville, brought together representatives of the Government, the United Nations, the private sector and civil society around a common goal: building inclusive economic governance as a driver of social stability.

In his speech, Minister James Monazard welcomed the participation of national and international partners, recalling that economic development must be at the heart of peacemaking efforts. He announced the deployment, in the short term, of technical and financial support programmes in relatively stable areas to strengthen the entrepreneurial capacities of young people and stimulate job creation.

The meeting also highlighted the need to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem in vulnerable neighbourhoods, to facilitate access to financing for project promoters, and to foster partnerships between the state and business to create sustainable jobs.

In the presence of Mr. Frinel Joseph, Counsellor-Chairman, a Kenyan delegation from the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), Ms. Greetanjali Narayan, representative of the United Nations system, and Ms. Marie Goretti Nduwayo, head of UN-Women, the forum reaffirmed a shared conviction that inclusive economic development is a key lever for the sustainable reduction of community violence and the restoration of national stability.
