KINAM National Coordinator Garry River
The KINAM Accord movement strongly rejected the idea of extending the mandate of the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC) beyond 7 February 2026, considering that current governance has seriously failed in its core missions.
In a statement signed on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, by its national coordinator, Garry Rivière, the organisation takes a serious look at successive leaders, from former Prime Ministers to the current CPT team, accusing them of repeated failures in terms of security, economic recovery, preparation for the constitutional referendum and the organization of elections. According to him, the country can no longer endure new « institutional deficiencies ».
KINAM recalls that Articles 12.1 and 13 of the Agreement of 3 April 2024 prohibit any extension of the CPT's mandate. « Traditional politicians have had many opportunities to redress the country, without any convincing results », says Rivière, thus justifying the categorical opposition to any attempt to renew the existing power.
To restore confidence, the movement proposes that future negotiations be conducted under international mediation, with the participation of CARICOM and the Organization of American States (OAS), in order to avoid direct dialogue with the outgoing leaders deemed discredited. He also advocated a new institutional architecture: a member of the 5th Judicature of the recomposed judiciary and a senior judge, chosen by drawing or consensus, would temporarily assume the country's presidency.
Finally, the agreement provides that the transition will automatically end on 7 February 2027 after the inauguration of the elected president. A comprehensive management report should be sent to the ULCC, the CSCC and the future 51st Parliament, paving the way for sanctions against those responsible for corruption or mismanagement.
