Port-au-Prince, 24 July 2025.- Following the information circulating about the funds requested by the Police Institution from the Haitian State to support the cost of ongoing operations, particularly in the departments of West, Central and Artibonite, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) has published a note to clarify what it describes as misinterpretations conveyed on social networks by ill-intentioned individuals.
The PNH states that the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) approved, on 18 July 2025, an amount of 177.130,000 gourdes, or 65% of the estimated budget of 272.323,800 gourdes submitted by the Institution. She pointed out that, despite this approval, no cheque had yet been issued. The Institution also recalls that it has accumulated debts in the last four months due to a lack of disbursements.
This amount should cover ongoing operations, support to field staff and various essential costs, including fuel, per diem, catering, vehicle repairs, etc. The PNH denounces an orchestrated disinformation campaign aimed at discrediting it.
However, despite this development, insecurity remains uncontrollable. The population, panicked, flees its homes; Police officers continue to be victims; equipment is insufficient and strategies are slow to produce concrete results. A situation that highlights the limitations and ineffectiveness of the HNP High Command.
Furthermore, the Director General of the PNH, Mr Rameau Normil, reaffirms his commitment to transparency. He welcomed the bravery of the police and called for strengthening the Police-Population Partnership (MPP).
