Jacmel: In the face of domestic violence, the PNH is stepping up its action on the ground

While domestic violence continues to concern the authorities and the population in Jacmel, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) is strengthening its presence on the ground. In the south-east, it had launched an awareness-raising campaign to prevent gender-based violence and to encourage victims and witnesses to report abuses.

Started July 31 at the Beaudouin market, this initiative targets retailers, farmers, truck drivers and motorcyclists. The HNP teams raise awareness of the consequences of violence, respect for human rights and the importance of promptly reporting any acts of aggression or abuse.

The campaign was also extended to the Jacmel Court of First Instance and to the office of the South-East Department of Taxation (DDI-SE), where the police called for greater inter-institutional collaboration.

According to the HNP, these actions will continue to strengthen prevention, improve victim support and help create a safer environment in the South-East Department.
